Revelation 17-22 outlines the end of history as we know it, beginning with the downfall of Babylon (Rev 17-18); the non-Christian world that sets itself up against God. So important is this event that it gets two whole chapters devoted to it.
Directly following the fall of this great prostitute, the wedding feast of the Lamb begins. It is a time of eschatological celebration, not only of the end of evil, but the beginning of eternal paradise. Blessed are all who are invited to this eternal party (Rev 19:9).
Yet not everyone is thrilled about the wedding of the Lamb. Satan and his minions (the dark trinity) gather those they have deceived for the last battle, which we have previously been told will happen at a place called Armageddon. Rev 19:19 tells us they gather together to fight against the Lamb.
Yet before the battle even begins, the Beast (the dark ‘Son’) and the false prophet (the dark ‘Spirit’) are captured and thrown into the fiery lake if burning sulphur. The non-Christians, who fought with Satan’s army, are then killed, and carrion birds come and feast on their flesh.
So why does the Bible give such a gruesome description of the demise of the non-Christian world? It is a warning. Those who refuse to align themselves with Jesus have automatically aligned themselves with the Dark Trinity (i.e. Satan and his minions). There is no siting on the fence when it comes to God, for Satan owns the fence.
The message of Revelation 19 is the same as the message of the rest of the Bible. All humans are given a choice. So which side will we chose? The side that is defeated in less than a verse, only to be eaten by carrion birds, or the side that gets to enjoy an eternal wedding banquet with our Lord and saviour? Choose wisely O human. For there is no second chance with God.
